A Little Piece of My Garden, Hanging in Your Kitchen

There is something lovely about a braid of homegrown garlic hanging on the kitchen wall. Beautiful to look at, full of character, and ready whenever supper calls for a little garlic. Simply snip off a bulb, separate the cloves and use what you need.

I have been growing this same heirloom Egyptian Pink garlic for 14 years. Each year I keep some bulbs aside for planting, and the rest we use and eat. One season carries into the next, keeping this much-loved garlic growing in my garden.

Homegrown and organically grown, with the familiar pungent aroma of garlic when freshly cut and a lovely mellow sweetness when roasted.

Garlic & Possible Gut Benefits

I have always thought of garlic as a bit of a wonder vegetable. Here are some of the possibilities that make it interesting:

  • MIGHT nourish beneficial gut bacteria: Garlic contains fructans, including inulin-type fibres, that some gut bacteria can use as food.
  • MIGHT contribute to a varied gut-friendly diet: Its naturally occurring fibres can add to the variety of plant foods on your plate.

These are possible dietary benefits, not a promise of a particular result. Garlic can also cause bloating or discomfort, especially for people sensitive to fructans or following a low-FODMAP diet. Enjoy according to your own tolerance.
